We are a working team of family and friends based in Celuk, a Balinese village famous for its silver jewelry cottage industries. The founders, Louise, (the ‘Lu’ in Lutikalai,) and Pastika, (the ‘tika’ in Lutikalai,) decided to set up the company after a collective 15 years of working in the handicraft business and having absolutely nothing to show for it! The idea was to set up a work place for themselves and their team that would make it easier and more enjoyable for everyone, including the produces they work with, to enjoy the fruit of their labour without being exploited or exploiting others.

Thus, Lutikalai was conceived. With it’s ‘alternative-alternative -trade’ ideals, Lutikalai works directly with producers, keeping prices competitive and, most importantly, allowing producers to get a fair price for their labour. There are no rules and regulations - only respect and a good conscience are the essential ethics of the business.

Thanks to our extended family of producers from all over Indonesia, chances are that, if something is made in Indonesia, we can supply it - complete with a SMILE!! If you are interested in finding out more about us, do get in touch, we look forward to it!
